Job summary

Mountain Youth Academy in Mountain City, TN, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct care and support for children and adolescents ages 5–17 receiving behavioral health treatment.

You will help maintain a safe, structured, therapeutic environment and collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other treatment team members to implement individualized treatment plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children or adolescents preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, education, childcare, or related setting preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, supervision, and emotional support to children and adolescents.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Monitor patient behaviors and changes in condition.
• Assist with emotional regulation and communication.
• Participate in therapeutic, recreational, educational, and group activities.
• Build professional boundaries while supporting patients.
• Apply trauma-informed care in interactions with children and adolescents.
• Recognize escalating behaviors and safety concerns.
• Implement crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Document patient observations and interventions.
• Communicate with nursing and treatment teams.
• Maintain a clean, organized patient care environment.
• Follow facility policies and safety protocols.
• Protect patient confidentiality and rights.
• Report safety concerns as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
