Job summary

Mountain Youth Academy in Mountain City, Tennessee seeks a Residential Counselor to provide compassionate support and supervision to our young residents during treatment. You will help create a safe, structured environment and build trusting relationships with patients in care.

Positions include non-degreed and degreed options, full-time or PRN, with pay between $18 and $22 per hour for those without prior experience. Degrees increase base rates and overtime may be available.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Preferred one year of health care experience.
  • Strong verbal de-escalation skills.
  • Functions as a community lead.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in crises.
  • Clear teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Mentoring/shadowing as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate support and supervision to residents throughout treatment.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment.
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with residents.
  • Monitor resident behavior and communicate changes to clinical staff.
  • Assist with daily activities, routines, and programming.
  • Encourage participation in treatment and reinforce positive behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation.
  • Follow safety, confidentiality, and behavioral health policies.
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, counselors, and the treatment team.
  • Serve as a positive role model with patience, professionalism, and respect.

Responsibilities

Mountain Youth Academy is nestled in Mountain City, Tennessee which is conveniently located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 120-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent patients.

We are looking for aResidential Counselorto join our team. In this role, you will provide support, encouragement, and structure to individuals receiving behavioral health treatment while helping create a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment.

Residential Counselor – Non-Degreed andDegreed

High School Diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree with one year of health care experience required.

Full-time or PRN positions available

Without prior experience earn between $18-22 an hour

  • Degrees increase the base rate.
  • Increased rates for those with prior work experiencein the medical, behavioral mental healthcare field, working with children and miliary services.
