Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Residential Counselor in Lakewood, WA, for a part-time role within its Behavioral Health Network. You will support adults in residential programs to develop recovery skills, independence, and community connections, while creating treatment plans and facilitating discharge planning.

The role involves counseling individuals and groups, helping develop life skills, and coordinating plans for work, school, or volunteering.

Qualifications

• AA degree in social services or related field preferred
• One year of experience working with mentally ill consumers in a residential setting, or equivalent education/experience
• BLS - Basic Life Support, Food Handler’s, and First Aid cards required within 14 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Provides counseling to help residents re-establish self-identity and purpose, including plans for work, school, or volunteering and community connections
• Helps residents develop life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, social skills and understanding medications
• Creates treatment plans and discharge planning documents and reviews with residents

Focuses on helping residents attain or resume their capacity for independent living, providing hope and motivation, as residents heal and develop resiliency.**Responsibilities:*** Provides counseling to help residents re-establish self-identity, sense of purpose and meaning in their lives, which may include developing plans for work, school, and/or volunteering, and making community connections.* Helps residents develop life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, money management, social skills and knowledge of symptoms and medications.* Creates treatment plans and discharge planning documents and delivers/reviews with residents* Conducts individual and group counseling sessions**Requirements:*** AA degree in social services or related field preferred* One (1) year of experience working with mentally ill consumers in a residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience* **BLS - Basic Life Suppor**t (includes RQI), **Food Handler’s,** & **First Aid** cards will be required within 14-days of hire* Washington State **Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered (ACCR)** credential must be applied for within thirty (30) days of hire. Employees can work while in pending status.
