McQuade is seeking a Superintendent to lead select high-end residential builds and remodels. Our superintendents are positive, humble, solution-oriented individuals who are passionate about great design and unique building challenges. The position offers an opportunity to lead teams of sub-contractors and craftsmen dedicated to the highest levels of quality — serving the Greater Los Angeles area.

Job Details

As superintendent, you’ll be the on-site construction manager, responsible for building and remodeling one-of-a-kind architecture. Your responsibilities include:

1. Ensuring work is performed safely, in accordance with plans and specifications, and in compliance with local building codes.
2. Daily on-site problem-solving.
3. Maintaining quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Partnering with the project manager to develop and manage the project schedule within a shared Gantt chart; contributing to estimate creation during pre-construction.
5. Maintaining plans, specifications, as-builts, and other documentation.
6. Managing subcontractors, including scheduling, evaluating work, safety compliance, submittal review, shop drawings, and RFIs.
7. Managing the field crew and optimizing supplier relationships, maintaining open and professional communication.
8. Conducting daily walk-throughs and maintaining a job log of personnel, owner visits, inspectors, architects, hazard management, weather, and near misses.
9. Representing McQuade professionally with clients, architects, owner’s reps, project managers, subcontractors, management, field staff, and neighbors/HOA representatives.
10. Coordinating material deliveries, handling, storage, and placement with foreman support.
11. Training and directing the field crew and conducting performance evaluations.
12. Ensuring job site security and safety for all personnel, tools, and materials.

Your Skillset/Qualifications

To succeed as a superintendent, you should have:

1. At least 2 years of superintendent experience in high-end custom residential projects.
2. Proficiency in digital communication.
3. Ability to schedule and adapt to changing timelines.
4. Experience maintaining a detailed daily log with photos.
5. Experience with 3-week look-ahead schedules and collaboration with project teams to update schedules and forecast delays.
6. Experience working through design details and construction challenges with architects and designers to achieve design intent.
7. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
8. Excellent communication, team-building, and mentoring skills.
9. Technical knowledge of building materials and methods, both traditional and innovative.
10. Proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets).
11. Willingness and ability to travel for projects; travel costs will be reimbursed.
12. U.S. work authorization.
