Job summary

Southern Methodist University is seeking a Residential Community Director to lead and sustain academically-focused, residential communities on campus. This four-year live-on role reports to the Associate Director for Residential Life and includes on-call rotation, with placement in first-year and/or upper-division housing as needed.

The RCD will supervise student leaders, manage budgets, coordinate programming and occupancy, collaborate with the Faculty in Residence, and serve as a Conduct

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree preferred in a related field.
• Experience in Student Affairs or Residence Life preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Train, supervise, and evaluate student leaders; conduct regular meetings.
• Develop knowledge of residents; assist with retention and conflict mediation.
• Plan programming, including at least one large-scale event annually.
• Collaborate with FIR and committees; serve on on-call rotation.
• Coordinate housing operations; manage occupancy and facilities requests.
• Manage budget and financial paperwork; support annual processes.
