Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking a Residence Director to lead the student experience in on-campus housing, guiding learning, wellbeing, staff supervision, and community development across 350–800 residents. You will supervise undergraduate Resident Assistants, coordinate curricular approaches, handle incidents, and partner with campus units to support student success while maintaining safety and compliance.

The role requires a Master's degree, strong communication, and a dedication to inclusive housing

Qualifications

• Master's degree required at time of hire.
• Experience supervising undergraduate student staff in a residential environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for student learning and inclusive community development in housing communities.
• Supervise undergraduate Resident Assistants and coordinate curricular strategies and staff training.
• Respond to incidents, maintain case management records, and coordinate with campus partners.
