Job summary

Anne Arundel County Government is hiring a full-time Combination Inspector in the Office of Inspections and Permits. The role focuses on building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical code compliance for residential construction, requiring independent judgment and adherence to regulations.

The inspector will review plans, inspect sites, issue violations, and coordinate with contractors, residents, and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2+ years of construction inspection or code enforcement experience.
• ICC Residential Combination Inspector certification required.
• Valid non-commercial Class C driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts final inspections and reviews plans for residential construction.
• Checks permits and conformity with building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes.
• Receives inquiries from the public and coordinates with supervisors and other inspectors.
• Issues violations and stop-work orders as needed; may testify in court or before boards.
• Performs inspections and attends required trainings; maintains records.
• Investigates complaints related to code requirements and advises stakeholders.
