Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Sanford NC is seeking a Waste Collection Operator to perform residential/recycling collection on a standard route using a rear- or side-load truck. You will load waste, operate the compactor, and maintain safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License and meet safety-sensitive criteria.
• Experience with residential waste collection operations or CDL training preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain collection equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate residential/recycling collection trucks on designated routes.
• Load waste, yard waste, and recyclables; use rear or side-load configurations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintain accurate route documentation.
• Identify and tag prohibited waste items; report safety issues to supervisor.
• Communicate any vehicle mechanical issues promptly to supervisor and mechanic.
• Maintain clean vehicle interior/exterior and ensure PPE is worn at all times.
• Support route efficiency improvements and comply with all safety policies.
