Job summary

RESPITE CARE OF SAN ANTONIO is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher for the Mother's Day Out program. The role runs Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a focus on caring for children with special needs and supporting the Lead Teacher.

Requirements include being 21+, passing background checks, and a High School Diploma or GED. Candidate should have at least 2 years of experience with developmental disabilities and childcare experience to help maintain a safe, engaging learning

Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older and pass background checks by state agencies.
High School Diploma or GED required; college courses preferred.
Minimum 2 years' experience with developmental disabilities; 2 years in direct care/childcare preferred.

Responsibilities

Implement plans designed by the teacher; assist with lesson planning and daily schedule.
Assist with arranging space, equipment, and materials in classroom and outdoors.
Maintain a clean, orderly child-centered environment.
Maintain up-to-date administrative paperwork including meal counts and incident reports.
Assume responsibility of the teacher in her absence.
Support projects as delegated by the teacher/director.
Report incidents to teacher/director and supervise children at all times.
Engage with children and foster development across domains.
