Job summary

Sierra Health + Wellness is seeking a Residential Care Technician to provide high-quality client care, support medical and behavioral needs, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment in a residential setting.

You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, document observations, transport clients, observe medications, and participate in groups while collaborating with clinical staff to promote safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
• Med-tech or CNA certification within 30 days of hire.
• Associates degree in Psychology or Social Work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client care that promotes safety, respect, and therapeutic engagement.
• Observe clients’ condition and report concerns to clinical staff promptly.
• Assist with ADLs including mobility, toileting, bathing, and meals.
• Record vital signs and wellness observations according to procedures.
• Document self-administration of medications per requirements.
• Respond to crises following established protocols.
• Maintain rooms and common areas; assist with meals and dietary needs.
• Provide safe transportation for activities and appointments.
• Keep vehicles clean and ready for transport.
• Support admissions with intake and belongings documentation.
• Participate in groups and treatment activities as directed.

Job Summary

The Residential Care Technician is responsible for providing high-quality patient care, supporting medical and behavioral needs, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment. This role oversees client health monitoring, documentation, ADL assistance, transportation, and medication observation.

Essential Functions

• Provide direct client care that promotes safety, respect, and therapeutic engagement.
• Observe clients’ physical and emotional condition and promptly report any concerns to clinical or supervisory staff.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility, toileting, bathing, and meals, as needed.
• Take and document vital signs, complete wellness checks, and record observations according to program procedures.
• Observe and document client self-administration of medications in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral health or medical crises and follow established intervention protocols.
• Prepare and maintain client rooms and common areas to ensure a safe and supportive living environment. Support meal service and ensure dietary needs and restrictions are followed.
• Provide safe transportation for clients to program activities, appointments, and other approved outings.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and readiness for transport.
• Assist with general facility upkeep and environmental services as needed.
• Support the admissions process, including intake support and documenting client belongings and inventories.
• Participate in and help facilitate groups, activities, and treatment programming as directed by clinical staff.

Supervisory Responsibility

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

• Primarily indoor environment with occasional outdoor work performed in a residential or outpatient treatment setting.
• May be exposed to individuals experiencing emotional distress or behavioral challenges.
• May work in close proximity to staff and clients.
• Noise level is typically moderate.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the day.
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
• Must have adequate visual acuity to read labels, and written instructions, and sufficient hearing to communicate effectively in a treatment environment.

Travel Required

• Moderate travel for outings, pharmacies, between facilities, external trainings or meeting; must be able to drive or otherwise travel between locations during regular work hours.

Required Education And Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• Certified in CPR/First Aid (within 30 days of hire)
• Med-tech or CNA Certification (within 30 days of hire)

Preferred Education And Experience

• Associates degree in Psychology, or Social Work or other related field or a combination of education and/or two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare or mental health experience.

Work Authorization/security Clearance Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Must successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal background check, and any additional clearances required by DHCS, DSS, or funding/regulatory agencies.
