Job summary

Rappahannock Area Community Services Board in Fredericksburg, Virginia is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex medical or behavioral needs. The role provides instruction, supervision and collaborative care under supervision of the ICF Supervisor.

You will assist with daily living skills, monitor resident progress, and liaise with families and other service providers while ensuring safety, dignity and respect

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, coursework in the Behavioral Sciences, and some experience with intellectually disabled persons.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction and guidance, assists and monitors residents in daily living skills and self-care such as hygiene, eating, mobility, money management, routine problem-solving, communication skills and community interactions and activities.
• Makes supportive behavioral interventions.
• Assists residents with physician appointments.
• Transports residents via agency van.
• Dispenses and records resident medications.
• Provides overnight awake support, assistance, monitoring and supervision to residents.
