NC State University is seeking a Temporary Summer Camp Nurse for Ellerbe, NC to join our camp healthcare team. The nurse will oversee all health care operations for approximately 120 campers weekly and be on-call 24/7 during the season.

Housing and meals are provided; the season runs May 29th – August 7th, 2026. The ideal candidate is NC-licensed, experienced in nursing, and able to work outdoors in variable conditions.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as an LPN, RN, or APRN in North Carolina.
• Experience in nursing or medical field.
• Ability to administer medication.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Enjoy working with youth in an outdoor environment.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Effective communication with camp staff, parents/guardians, and campers.
• Ability to assess emergencies and determine higher level care.

Responsabilités

• On-call to respond to medical emergencies at all times campers are on-site, including overnight.
• Follow health care policies/procedures described in standing orders and staff manual.
• Facilitate proper medication administration during all periods.
• Maintain written medical records for medications and treatments.
• Oversee camper medication schedule and communicate medical needs to counselors.
• Review camper health forms and coordinate with medical team.
• Supervise 1-2 Health Care Coordinators.
• Prepare and distribute camper medication schedules weekly.
