Job summary

Optimum Performance Institute in Woodland Hills, CA is hiring a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support young adults in residential behavioral health services. This on-site role involves supervision, wellness checks, documentation, and collaboration with the treatment team.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma, and experience in mental health; a bachelor’s in psychology or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid driver's license with clean driving record; company-paid auto insurance eligibility.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field preferred.
• Two years of experience in residential treatment, mental health, or related setting preferred.
• Ability to remain attentive, exercise good judgment, and respond to overnight resident needs.
• Weekend and holiday availability required.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with residents, offering mentorship and guidance to foster personal growth, emotional regulation, and independence.
• Complete scheduled wellness and safety checks while monitoring resident behavior and well-being.
• Respond to resident needs, behavioral concerns, and crisis situations per procedures.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and structured residential environment during shifts.
• Complete accurate shift notes, observation logs, and incident documentation.
• Communicate resident updates and concerns to the treatment team and incoming staff.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and follow OPI policies, safety standards, and privacy requirements.
