Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC seeks a Residential Assistant to monitor health and safety of residents in a housing facility. The role includes weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday, 12:00 pm–12:00 am), part-time (24 hours/week).

Required: HSGED or Associates with relevant social services experience, CPR/First Aid, valid driver license; preferred background in addictions or mental health and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• HSGED required; 3–5 years in social services with addictions/mental health experience.
• Associates Degree; 5 years in social services with addictions/mental health experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee house operations and ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Report safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Support clients to maintain treatment goals and progress.
• Facilitate on-site group activities and coaching for recovery.
• Monitor medications and document incidents per policy.
• Prepare meals and assist in program activities as needed.
• Transport clients for program activities when required.

Compensation

Position Description

The Residential Assistant provides monitoring and oversight to ensure the health safety and well being of residents and the overall housing facility

Saturday & Sunday 1200 pm 1200 am Part Time; 24 hours per week; This position is an essential position

• HSGED; 3 5 yrs experience in social services; experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment

Expected Contributions

Resident Care & Program Operations

• Oversee house operations and ensure safe and efficient operations
• report any safety maintenance concerns
• Provide clients with support to maintain progress on treatment goals
• Plan and facilitate client participation in meaningful activity both on site and in the community including recovery
• Facilitate on site group meetings and provide coaching to residents to maintain recovery
• Monitor and document medications taken by clients
• Provide crisis management to clients as needed; document incidents according to policy and procedure
• Maintain client documentation and complete all shift communication
• Monitor client whereabouts and activities; conduct regular checks of program environment
• Review client appointments and communicate with treatment team as needed
• Ensure house chores are completed
• Conduct drug screenings
• Perform room inspections
• Assist with client programming as needed
• Ensure that household supplies are available
• Perform various administrative taks as needed
• Transport clients as needed to meet program needs
• Assist in preparing meals as needed

Environmental Working Conditions

This position is in a residential setting and may or may not include individual heating and air conditioning controls This residential setting may or may not include a window Reports to Clinical Director IOP

This position is designated as Safety Sensitive You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME In this position you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana

Physical Demands
