Brown University is seeking a Residential Area Coordinator to implement and support the residential curriculum and co-curricular experiences for undergraduate housing. You will supervise student staff, handle community concerns, and collaborate with Campus Life to deliver a learning-centered living environment aligned with Brown’s Liberal Learning Goals.
The role is 12 months, live-in (one or two-bedroom apartment provided) with a partial meal plan; three-year fixed-term.
The Residential Area Coordinator is essential in implementing and supporting Brown’s and Campus Life’s residential curriculum and academic year experiences. To accomplish this primary function and purpose, the Residential Area Coordinator works closely with colleagues in Campus Life and other offices to deliver an intentional co-curricular living-learning environment in the undergraduate residences that is aligned with Brown’s Liberal Learning Goals for its Open Curriculum; Brown’s values, voice, and mission; and Campus Life divisional goals for the student experience. The Residential Area Coordinator accomplishes these outcomes by contributing to a dynamic and engaged professional and student staff team whose practice is innovative, centers student development and learning, and partners actively with students and colleagues. Residential Area Coordinators achieve these goals through fostering the growth and development of their residents, responding to community concerns, addressing policy violations, supervising student staff, and supporting administrative and operational functions for the Strategic Assessment and Student Experience team. Residential Area Coordinators will participate in the University’s after-hours on-call system and respond to student emergencies. Reporting to an Assistant Director, the Residential Area Coordinator will supervise a student staff team and collaborate with professional colleagues to serve a group of buildings within the First Year Experience, Greek, Program Theme, or Upper Division Area. Night and weekend work is required.
This is a 12-month, live-in position (one/two-bedroom apartment provided), with a partial meal plan while classes are in session. Note: This is a three-year, fixed-term position.
