Job summary

Charleston County Government is seeking Appraiser I–III to perform residential property appraisals for ad valorem tax purposes. The role includes field inspections, measuring buildings, and researching sales to determine market value, with a range of salary levels to match experience.

Hirings at $45,052 for Appraiser I, $50,440 for Appraiser II and $54,308 for Appraiser III are posted; occasional overtime and weekend work may occur as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• A valid SC driver’s License is required.
• Must complete education and obtain a SC Apprentice Appraisal Permit within 4 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Appraises a wide variety of improved residential properties and vacant land.
• Conducts field inspections, measures buildings and prepares scaled drawings.
• Researches sales and listings to determine market value.
• Performs related administrative and technical duties.
