Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking an overnight security/counselor to patrol residences, monitor resident activities, and report incidents in New York. Responsibilities include escorting residents, screening calls, supervising medication administration, and completing periodic logs.

CPR training and bilingual abilities are preferred. The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with a nightly schedule and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma/GED required; some college preferred.
  • One year of experience as a security guard or counselor for the mentally ill preferred.
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • CPR training certification or willingness to take CPR training.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol residence and report observations of property loss or damage.
  • Monitor resident activities; restore order as needed; prepare incident reports.
  • Escort residents and screen calls/visitors.
  • Monitor self-administration of medication; assist with emergency first aid/CPR when needed.
  • Prepare required schedules and logs (laundry, census, case assignments, roll call, probation).
  • Wake clients in the morning; perform periodic room inspections; related duties as assigned.

Job description

Patrol residence and report any observations leading to loss or damage of property. Monitor resident activities and act to restore order if needed. Make out reports as required. Act as escort for residents. Screen calls and visitors. Monitor the self administration of medication. Complete incident reports in AWARDS Prepare the following as needed: laundry schedule, census update, case assignments, roll call sheet, and client probation list. Help maintain transition and facilities logs. Monitor roll call sheet. Wake clients in the morning. Make periodic inspections of clients’ rooms. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.

HOURS

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS

HS diploma/ GED required, some college preferred. One year of experience was a security guard or counselor for the mentally ill preferred. Bilingual, Spanish/ English preferred. Valid drivers’ license preferred. Basic computer literacy required. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.

*Vaccination preferred but not required.
