Job summary

The Salvation Army in Memphis is seeking a Part-Time Housing Assistant for the KT-Memphis Area Command. The role provides evening supervision and support in a residential facility, with 25 hours per week and benefits.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid State Driver License, and prior social service experience is preferred. Responsibilities include client supervision, record-keeping, confidentiality, and crisis intervention with occasional driving duties to transport

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of related work experience preferably in a social service setting OR equivalent training/experience.
• Valid State Driver License required.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to clients in a residential facility; maintains records and communicates with supervisor about daily client activities.
• Facilitates an environment conducive to positive client morale and stabilization.
• Drives occasionally to transport clients.
• Responds to inquiries from non-clients and maintains records of program residents.
• Ensures confidentiality and 24-hour monitoring of clients.

Job Location: KT-Memphis Area Command - Memphis, TN, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Education Level: High School Diploma/GED, Salary Range: $12.00, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Evening, Job Category: Housing, Schedule/Hours: Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (25 hours per week)

This position is responsible for:

Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to clients in a residential facility; maintains appropriate records in addition to ongoing written and verbal communication with the supervisor in relationship to daily client activities; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive client morale and stabilization. May drive occasionally to transport clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists and responds to inquiries from non-clients.
• Maintains and updates records of all program residents; completes assigned paperwork, documentation, and statistics as assigned.
• Follows the written policy and procedures for confidentiality in order to maintain the privacy of the residents.
• Provides necessary crisis intervention; ensures 24-hour monitoring of clients.

• Ability to exercise good judgment and make responsible decisions with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to exhibit personal integrity, mature judgment, and emotional stability suitable to the job.

• Work is performed in a normal office and transitional housing environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
• Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
