Job summary

The Salvation Army in Knoxville, TN is seeking a dedicated housing program assistant to support residents and ensure safety and order within the facility.

You will complete daily documentation, assist with personal needs, manage phone inquiries, and collaborate with Case Management to report incidents and maintain records.

This role requires strong English communication, dependability, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and one year of related work experience preferably in a social service setting.
• Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Completes a daily contact sheet on each resident (including alcohol test).
• Performs bed checks during shift.
• Assists clients with personal needs – clothing, hygiene supplies, linens, etc.
• Checks the facility to ensure that all doors are properly locked.
• Ensures that all entry doors and outside gates are locked.
• Answers a multi-line phone system and forwards calls appropriately; refers applicants to the Case Manager for screening.
• Maintains and updates records of all program residents; completes assigned paperwork, documentation, and statistics as assigned.
• Completes all paperwork as needed to report problems and/or concerns, emergency reports and violations of the rules and regulations and forwards reports to Case Management and Program Director.
• Communicates all major incidents to Case Manager and Program Director in writing and orally; facilitates ongoing information exchange.
