Job summary

The Children's Village, Inc. seeks a Residential Aide to support families and children in a Brooklyn shelter, ensuring safety and smooth daily operations.

You will walk floors, engage with residents, assist in the kitchen, and coordinate with security and the case management team during room inspections.

Evening, night, and weekend shifts may be required, with a preference for multilingual candidates and a Food Protection Certificate to be earned in the first weeks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in shelter or residential setting.
• Fluent in languages other than English; Food Protection Certificate required early.
• Driver’s License preferred; flexible to cover shifts.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The Residential Aid is responsible for assuring the general welfare and safety of the families and children residing within the site by walking through their assigned floor, engaging with families and at times working in the kitchen. Residential Aid will communicate with the security team and Director if an issue or concern arises. Residential Aid is expected to accompany the case manager during room inspections. Monitor common areas to ensure proper usage. Conduct intakes during evenings, overnights, and weekends as needed.

Position Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred. Experience in shelter or residential setting. Prefer candidates who are fluent in languages other than English. Food Protection Certificate will be required during first few weeks of hire. Driver’s License preferred. Must be flexible and able to cover other shifts than what is assigned.
