Job summary

Servingschools is seeking a Residential Advisor to provide a safe, supportive dormitory environment for Job Corps trainees, monitoring their daily activities and progress toward performance goals.

You will mentor students, supervise hygiene, chores, and meals, document observations, run life-skills groups, and support conflict resolution. Shift hours: Wed 2:00 PM–12:00 AM, Thu/Fri 2:30 AM–11:30 PM, Sat 3:00 PM–12:00 AM, Sun 4:00 PM–12:00 AM; off Mon-Tue.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in dormitory and assist with daily activities.
• Mentor students and provide informal counseling on stress and personal problems.
• Document daily observations and maintain logs of progress, behavior and attendance.
• Lead life-skills groups on budgeting, renter's rights, leases and chores.
• Facilitate small group discussions on conflict resolution and peer mediation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Residential Advisor provides safe, supportive and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps trainees in their daily activities, monitoring their progress in attaining performance contract goals and objectives and utilizing behavior management and intentional and consistent Core Value driven practices. Conducts dormitory operations in accordance to Center operating policy and procedures and in accordance with CSD Operating Procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a mentor.
• Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, special recreation activities, cafeteria monitoring, transportation, and programmed activities.
• Provides informal counseling related to stress management, personal problems, emergency or home situations, etc., with students, and provides insight into responsible behavior and attitudes.
• Prepares reports and forms and annotates logs to ensure accurate documentation of daily observations of student’s progress, performance, behavior and attitudes, staff breaks, emergency information, communication information, references to critical information contained in folders.
• Facilitates groups in life skills including budgeting, renter’s rights, completing a lease, completing chores, etc.
• Facilitates small group discussions in life skills, peer mediation, conflict resolution, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Shift Hours : Wednesday 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) Thursday & Friday 2:30 AM to 11:30 PM Saturday 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) Sunday 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) Off Monday & Tuesday
