Job description

MHP is hiring a part‑time Residential Advisor to oversee participant activity in all transitional and supportive housing locations. The role requires maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, monitoring shift activities, managing documentation, and providing resources for participants’ recovery and well‑being.

Job Details

Part‑time, $18.00 per hour. Two 12‑hour shifts every other weekend (7:30 PM–8:00 AM Saturdays and Sundays) at 1305 East Oak Lane Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19126.

Responsibilities
  • Provide resources for housing, medical, substance abuse, mental health, and other services to ensure participants adhere to treatment and progress plans.
  • Facilitate discussions, groups, and recreational activities during shifts.
  • Assist participants in achieving their goal plans.
  • Maintain safety, security, and well‑being of participants through regular interaction throughout the shift.
  • Maintain required documentation (log book, daily progress notes, shift reports, medication administration records, incident reports, housing applications, blood sugar records, and changes in participants’ moods and behaviors).
  • Meet with participants to assess progress and develop interventions.
  • Check regularly on participants’ well‑being (if night shift).
  • Accurately oversee medication administration during each shift.
  • Prepare meals as necessary.
  • Document participants’ visits in EHR immediately.
  • Perform other duties assigned to fulfill MHP’s mission and vision.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Drive a multi‑passenger van (including at night) and support passengers during ingress/egress or emergency evacuation.
  • Walk between MHP locations and in the community, potentially in areas that may not be handicap accessible.
  • Climb up to 3 flights of stairs multiple times per shift for participant check‑ins.
  • Remain awake for entire shift, including break times.
  • Frequent talking, listening, and clear accurate speech; tolerance to loud or vulgar language and hostile gestures.
  • Perform essential job functions while meeting productivity standards safely and successfully, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED, plus one to two years of related work experience (internships or volunteer work) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Peer Specialist certificate preferred.
  • Medication monitoring training certificate or ability to be trained in medication monitoring.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a 6-passenger and 12-passenger van.
  • Basic computer skills for desktop computing, email, timesheet management, electronic health records, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic electronic communication and internet skills.
  • Certified First Aid/CPR.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Safety Certificate within six months of hire.

Compensation

$18.00 per hour.
