MHP is hiring a full‑time Outreach Specialist to engage and build relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness, providing resources and placement at shelters, cafes, or safe havens. The position is part‑time, scheduled Saturdays & Sundays 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, with a starting salary of $21.63 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
- Use personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with participants experiencing homelessness or economic insecurity with behavioral health needs.
- Assist participants in identifying and accessing community resources for developing natural supports to increase their success in the community.
- Connect participants to short‑term housing such as shelters, cafes, or safe havens and may drive participants to various community‑based establishments in a multi‑passenger vehicle.
- Provide de‑escalation and crisis intervention services as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all MHP policies and procedures and report any violations to management or the appropriate departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP’s mission.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED preferred; additional years of experience beyond the minimum 2 years may be considered in lieu of HSD/GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health conditions, and/or substance misuse.
- Credentialed as a Certified Peer Specialist is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills for desktop computing, e‑mail, time‑sheet management, electronic health records, internet research, and ability to learn relevant software applications.
- Ability to enter data on a mobile handheld device while in the field.
- Ability to work with a partner and complete assignments according to prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Physical Demands
- Sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
- Lift up to 15 lbs.
- Frequent talking and listening; possible exposure to loud or vulgar language and hostile gestures due to the participant population.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance and be available for flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and work holidays/overtime as needed.
- Remain awake during entire shift, including break times.
- Drive a multi‑passenger van (including at night) and physically support passengers during ingress/egress as needed, and/or assist disabled individuals in an emergency evacuation.
- 90 % of an Outreach Specialist’s time spent in community settings and/or on outreach; travel within the community, including in inclement weather that may not be handicap accessible: walking, driving agency vehicles, and/or taking public transportation depending on program needs.
- Carry computer equipment and ascend/descend stairs carrying it.
