Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating activity programs & quality assurance in the Activities Department.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement to evaluate progress and document notes.
• Develop and maintain good rapport with other departments to ensure activities run smoothly and create a warm, calm environment.
• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs and advise on equipment and supplies.
• Assist in cleaning activity areas after events and follow the care plan in providing daily activities.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and treat residents with dignity.
• Oversee residents in activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts.
