Job summary

Star City Nursing and Rehabilitation seeks an Activities Assistant to support the Activity Director in planning, organizing, and directing a program of activities that promote wellness, recreation, and independence for residents.

The role focuses on assisting cognitively, physically, and emotionally challenged individuals and their families in exploring meaningful leisure pursuits, with emphasis on safety and comprehensive care in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in an activity program or related duties.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lead in the Activity Department in the director's absence.
• Ability to work well within a team and show initiative.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve the resident activity program.
• Develop and implement activities to meet social, emotional, physical and therapeutic needs.
• Maintain records of activity participation and progress toward care plan goals.
• Participate in resident care planning by identifying activity needs from medical assessment.
• Prepare notes reflecting residents’ reactions and progress.
• Maintain activity-related records per regulations and medical records standards.
• Initiate and promote activities inside and outside the facility while ensuring safety.
