Job summary

Community Housing Innovations (CHI) is seeking a dedicated Resident Support Specialist to supervise RSS staff and maintain program compliance at our location in New York. The role focuses on supervising staff, conducting regular one-on-one meetings, coordinating shifts, and ensuring timely trainings and documentation.

You will liaise with outside entities, handle crisis de-escalation, audits, and reporting, educate clients on policies, and support management with communication and on-call

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in management or human services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; English required; Spanish a plus.
  • Basic computer skills in Windows, Office and internet usage.
  • Ability to tour properties, walk distances and climb stairs.
  • Strong prioritization, judgment and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent supervision and support for all Resident Support Specialist staff.
  • Conduct 1-to-1 meetings with team members and update performance goals, accomplishments, notes, and feedback in Paycom on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly).
  • Ensure RSS staff are up to date and in compliance with all required trainings. Provide on-site training and feedback as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate RSS shifts at the location.
  • Act as a liaison for CHI by implementing timely and effective communication with outside entities.
  • De-escalate potential crisis situations and document all situations and interventions.
  • Audit logs, incident reports, and other required documentation to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Provide guidance on appropriate documentation to RSS staff.
  • Conduct fire drills and evacuate the building when necessary.
  • Ensure the program is providing quality services and is compliant with program requirements.
  • Educate clients about program policies and procedures.
  • Prevent loss of income to CHI from vacancy loss and lost shelter payments, property, etc.
  • Assist the management team with communication as well as being an on-call supervisor.

  • Experience: 2+ years’ experience providing management services or experience in a human services field.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.
  • Physical Performance: Ability to tour properties, walk distances, climb stairs, etc.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls.
  • Other Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Must be even-tempered, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines. Effective time management skills.

Salary: $24.04 per hour – $50,003 annually. Overtime available. Open shifts: Tuesday – Saturday, 5 pm – 1 am with on-call responsibilities.
