Job summary

The Jewish Board is seeking a Case Assistant to join its Adult Residential Division in Bronx, NY. This entry-level role supports residents to live independently in community settings, following a harm-reduction approach and guiding them toward personalized recovery goals.

Responsibilities include daily living skills coaching, advocacy, policy explanation, documentation, and coordination with clinical staff. Strong communication, empathy, and crisis de-escalation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or HSE is required.
  • Two years of experience in a Human Services or Community Mental Health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Help residents attain independent living skills and goals.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, laundry).
  • Advocate for residents with other services and consider health disparities and systemic racism.
  • Interpret and explain agency policies and procedures to residents.
  • Participate in monthly cooperative walk-throughs with residents.
  • Escorts residents to appointments as needed.
  • Facilitate monthly roommate meetings when appropriate.
  • Assist with physically demanding tasks as needed.
  • Resolves crises and de-escalates situations threatening resident well-being.
  • Performs safety rounds of the program and wellness checks in congregate settings.
