Job summary

ACTION-Housing, Inc. in Pittsburgh seeks a Building Attendant to provide front desk coverage, cleaning and resident support at 24-hour facilities.

The role requires flexibility for evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays to keep buildings safe, clean and welcoming for residents and staff. Responsibilities include monitoring entrances, signing in visitors, handling mail, managing security footage, assisting with lockouts, and conducting routine cleaning and deliveries.

Qualifications

• Must be compassionate and comfortable working in a human services environment.
• Ability to manage issues outside of typical customer service scenarios.
• Must be able to walk multiple flights of stairs and lift/move trash containers and packages.
• Basic computer skills for logging incidents and managing security footage.
• Previous experience in security, janitorial work, or supportive housing preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule across multiple shifts in a 24-hour facility.
• Flexibility to switch between cleaning, resident support, and front desk responsibilities throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide front desk coverage, including: monitoring and securing building entrances, signing visitors in/out during visiting hours, distributing resident mail and answering phones.
• Using computer systems to view and save security footage.
• Respond to and de-escalate resident issues; complete incident reports.
• Assist residents with lockouts and building access cards.
• Perform regular cleaning and maintenance rounds: clean restrooms, lobby, community rooms, and hallways; sweep, mop, and restock supplies; remove trash from floors and place bins outside for pickup.
• Receive and stock building deliveries.
• Assist in emergencies, including fire alarm evacuations and resetting panels.
