Job summary

Penquis in Bangor, ME is seeking a full-time Resident Services Coordinator to work with affordable housing locations and management agents, providing service coordination and referral resources to tenants in a hybrid role based out of the Bangor office.

You will inform residents of available services, assess needs, connect to community resources, advocate for residents, and liaise between residents, staff, and providers to support tenancy stability and success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field is preferred.
• Working knowledge of area resources for low-income individuals.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must pass Penquis background check requirements.

Responsibilities

Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time Resident Services Coordinator working directly with affordable housing locations and the management agents to provide service coordination and referral resources to tenants.This is a full time (40hrs per week) hybrid position based out of the Bangor office.

Responsibilities

• Inform residents available services via regular written, telephone, and in-person communication. Develop and maintain a structured, computerized and printed list of referral resources at each property.
• Provide intake and assessment of individual households to determine needs and potential community resources benefits and provide appropriate referrals and service advocacy
• Establish professional relationships with clients; provide services to clients in a compassionate and friendly manner; provide guidance which encourages residents to make choices that are in the best interest of their tenancy and selves.
• Advocate for residents as a liaison between fellow residents, management staff, community agencies, and providers as required and serve as a referral resource clearing house for residents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
• Working knowledge of areas resources for low-income individuals.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
• Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
