Job summary

The Laurels of Galesburg is seeking a Cook to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for residents in accordance with prescribed menus and sanitation standards. The Cook will supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Chef, follow standardized recipes, and prepare meals per cycles developed by Registered Dietitians to ensure resident health and satisfaction.

Responsibilities include safe food handling, proper storage, and collaboration with dietary staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
• ServSafe certified or ServSafe certified within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary center’s employees in the absence of the Chef and/or Certified Dietary Manager.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures, safe handling guidelines, and regulations.
• Follow standardized recipes.
• Prepare foods per menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks meals in proper temperatures and times.
• Minimizes waste by using food supplies efficiently.
• Maintains clean and safe workspaces and equipment.
• Supports resident satisfaction through timely communication with supervisor.
