Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for production and pre-production network environments.

• Support incidents, outages, escalations, maintenance, migrations, and changes.
• Collaborate to understand current architecture and future requirements.
• Guide network design, capacity planning, technology adoption, and modernization.
• Develop and maintain automation using Python and Juniper PyEZ.
• Train teams on Juniper configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operations.
• Develop SOPs and MOPs to identify risks and improve operations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly technical, customer-facing Resident Network Engineer to provide post-sales technical support for large-scale Juniper Networks environments.

This role will work closely with network engineering, architecture, and operations teams to maintain high availability, troubleshoot complex network issues, support major network initiatives, and provide technical guidance across production and pre-production environments.

The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with Juniper platforms, service provider/MSO networks, JUNOS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and network automation using Python/PyEZ.

What You'll Do

• Provide day-to-day operational support for production and pre-production network environments.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, routing, switching, and service-provider network issues.
• Manage and drive Juniper JTAC cases through resolution, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support critical incidents, outages, escalations, maintenance windows, migrations, and major network changes.
• Work with engineering and operations teams to understand current network architecture, operational processes, and future requirements.
• Provide guidance on network design, capacity planning, technology adoption, and network modernization.
• Assess network health and stability and develop diagnostic and fault-isolation procedures.
• Review and develop SOPs and MOPs to identify potential operational or network risks.
• Lead technical and operational workshops and communicate complex technical issues to engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
• Train engineering and operations teams on Juniper configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and day-to-day platform operations.
• Perform lab testing, certification, and integration of new hardware and major software releases before production deployment.
• Develop and maintain automation tools using Python and Juniper PyEZ to improve network validation, health monitoring, troubleshooting, and provisioning.
• Assist with adoption and integration of network automation into existing operational workflows.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to internal tooling and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with other Resident Engineers to share best practices and reduce operational risk.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting large-scale service provider or MSO networks.
• Experience supporting major network transformations, upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with JUNOS CLI.
• Extensive experience with Juniper MX, QFX, EX, ACX, and PTX platforms.
• Strong understanding of service provider networking, including:
  • TCP/IP and MPLS
  • OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP
  • MPLS-TE, RSVP, and LDP
  • IPv4 and IPv6
  • BGP routing policy and peering
  • L3VPN, VPLS, and MVPN
  • Ethernet switching and 802.1Q
  • QoS / Class of Service
• Hands-on scripting experience with Python and Juniper PyEZ.
• Ability to develop automation solutions that integrate with existing network operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, particularly during high-pressure outages and escalations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineering, operations, and executive audiences.
• Strong customer-facing skills with a collaborative and consultative approach.
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into practical, scalable network solutions.
