Job summary

Cal State East Bay is seeking a full-time, 12-month Area Coordinator to support student housing and residence life. The AC will supervise a staff team, manage crises, and be a Campus Security Authority, reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life.

The position requires evening and weekend work, on-call rotation, and strong collaboration with university partners to advance student success and inclusive communities. The AC is housed on campus as part of a dynamic housing program.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling.
• Knowledge of practices, procedures and activities related to student Residential Life programs.
• General knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques, and ability to listen and reason logically.
• Ability to live on-campus and assume 24-hour on call duty on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management to assess and address student concerns and crises.
• Lead weekly team meetings and develop staff leadership in the residential community.
• Ensure safety and security of residents and support student success.
• Coordinate monthly staff meetings and ongoing professional development.
