Job summary

Cal State East Bay in Hayward is seeking a Area Coordinator (AC) as part of the University Housing and Residence Life. This full-time, 12-month live-in professional staff member supports student learning, development, and inclusivity in a designated residential area, supervised by the Associate Director of Residence Life.

The AC will manage case work, crisis response, and student conduct, and supervise 1-2 senior resident assistants with a larger RA team, while coordinating leadership

Qualifications

• Case management and crisis response experience in a student housing setting.
• Ability to supervise staff and lead leadership development activities.
• Knowledge of student conduct processes and university policies (FERPA/Clery).
• Strong communication and collaboration with campus partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as case manager to address student concerns and crisis situations.
• Work on-call rotation with variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ensure safety and security of residents; support student success.
• Lead resident staff, coordinate monthly meetings, and provide ongoing coaching.
• Implement residential curriculum and collaborate with campus partners as needed.
