Job summary

The Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Zanesville, Ohio, is seeking an Activity Assistant to join our team and help create a vibrant daily routine for residents. You will assist the Activity Director in planning, organizing, and leading engaging activities that promote social interaction, movement, and mental stimulation in a safe, supportive environment.

Candidates should have a passion for enhancing seniors' lives, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead groups or work

Qualifications

• Experience with older adults in healthcare settings is preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in recreational programming to enhance residents' lives.
• Ability to lead and engage groups in fun, stimulating activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing engaging recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents.
• Lead or co-lead individual and group activities (arts, crafts, music, games, exercises, social events).
• Provide one-on-one engagement to involve residents in activities.
• Create and maintain individualized activity plans based on resident interests and needs.
• Ensure activities are conducted safely following infection control and safety procedures.
• Monitor residents during activities and offer support as needed.
• Encourage participation in physical and cognitive activities to promote well-being.
• Document participation and provide feedback to the Activity Director.
• Assist in planning special events, celebrations, and outings.
• Foster a positive, energetic atmosphere to welcome residents.
