Job summary

The Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Zanesville, OH is seeking an Activity Assistant to join our team and help create a vibrant, fun environment for residents.

Assist the Activity Director in planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities. You will work closely with residents, families, and staff to promote social interaction, physical movement, and mental stimulation in a safe, supportive setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with older adults in healthcare or long‑term care is preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in recreational programming to enhance seniors' lives.
• Ability to lead and engage groups in fun, stimulating activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families.
• Compassionate, resident‑focused attitude with a commitment to making a difference.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing engaging recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents.
• Lead or co‑lead individual and group activities such as arts and crafts, music, games, exercises, and social events.
• Provide one‑on‑one engagement with residents, ensuring active participation in activities.
• Assist in creating and maintaining individualized activity plans based on residents' interests and needs.
• Ensure activities are conducted safely following infection control and safety procedures.
• Monitor residents during activities and offer support as needed.
• Encourage physical and cognitive activities to promote well‑being.
• Document participation and provide feedback to the Activity Director on resident interests and progress.
• Assist in planning special events, celebrations, and outings.
• Foster a positive, energetic atmosphere to encourage participation.
