Job summary

SLR Consulting in Cheshire, CT is seeking a Resident Engineer/Chief Inspector to oversee CT DOT construction projects. You will lead field inspection teams, ensure contract compliance, and provide expert oversight for road and bridge projects across Connecticut.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, 5+ years in relevant inspection work, and familiarity with DOT processes. CT DOT project experience preferred; strong documentation and communication skills are

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or related engineering disciplines.
• 5+ years of experience inspecting and administering water, wastewater, process or industrial construction projects.
• 5+ years of experience inspecting and administering CT DOT construction projects, and/or a combination of municipal and CT DOT experience will be considered a plus.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide Chief Inspector/Senior Inspector services for CT DOT Construction Inspection Projects.
• Review of contract documents and prepare project records including daily inspection reports and testing protocols.
• Coordinate with clients and contractors; prepare for and run meetings.
• Develop and maintain project records throughout construction; prepare estimates and change orders; monitor material testing.
• Review subordinate inspection staff work and coordinate with utility companies and agencies as necessary.
• Prepare for and present at interviews for future work.
