Job summary

Veoneer Safety Systems is seeking a Resident Engineer in Southfield, MI. You will serve as the primary customer interface for vehicle-specific electronic ECU module customization and launches, developing configuration files, releasing builds, and supporting engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities include maintaining BOMs, drawings, and documentation, performing system-level testing, and coordinating with global teams for continuous improvements in our production and prototype workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Electrical engineering specialization preferred.
• Minimum 3 years industry experience required.
• Ability to understand complex systems and translate to simpler terms.
• Customer-focused with strong teamwork skills.
• Honest, transparent and reliable communication.

Responsibilities

• Primary customer interface for vehicle ECUs customization and launches.
• Develop vehicle-specific configuration files and manage their release.
• Provide product support, data retrieval and analysis.
• Track MRDs for prototype parts and communicate with the customer.
• Support customer site for prototype and production-launch builds.
• Assist with electrical bench testing and system-level tests.
• Release updated part numbers and related documentation (drawings, ICD, assembly instructions).
• Create and maintain End Item BOMs, drawings and PPAP-related processes.
• Perform peer reviews to ensure high-quality deliveries.
• Interface daily with customer and Veoneer teams to ensure smooth information flow.
• Collaborate with global Resident Engineers across countries.
• Manage change requests impacting vehicle programs.
• Drive continuous improvements in daily team activities.
