About the Role

Fehr Graham is a fast‑growing Midwest engineering and environmental firm seeking a motivated and experienced Resident Engineer. The position is based in our Monroe, Wisconsin office and offers opportunities to lead transportation and municipal projects across Wisconsin and northern Illinois, ensuring timely, on‑budget delivery in compliance with all applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary on‑site representative for construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and oversee day‑to‑day field operations for roadways, bridges, utility installations and other civil infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subconsultants, municipal clients and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
  • Perform and document field inspections, materials testing and quality control procedures.
  • Monitor construction schedules and budgets; proactively identify and address potential delays or overruns.
  • Maintain accurate project records, field notes, daily reports and change documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and project‑specific requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to field staff and engineering interns.
  • Support project managers with close‑out documentation, punch lists and final inspections.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Licensed EIT preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction engineering including roadway or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with WisDOT and/or IDOT projects, specifications and documentation procedures is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in construction inspection, documentation and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with field tools and software such as AASHTOWare Project, Microsoft Excel and CAD‑based systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and with cross‑functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites in the region.
