Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Licensed EIT preferred; PE license is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction engineering.
  • Experience with WisDOT/IDOT projects and documentation procedures.
  • Proficient in field inspections, documentation, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare Project, Excel, and CAD-based systems.
  • Strong communication and ability to work independently with cross-functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site representative for construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day field operations for roadways, bridges, utility installations, and other civil infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subconsultants, municipal clients, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and maintain progress.
  • Perform and document field inspections, materials testing, and quality control procedures.
  • Monitor construction schedules and budgets; identify and address delays or overruns.
  • Maintain project records, field notes, daily reports, and change documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and project-specific requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to field staff and interns.
  • Support project managers with closeout documentation and final inspections.

What you’ll do

  • Support project managers with closeout documentation, punch lists, and final inspections.
What it takes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Licensed EIT preferred, Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction engineering, including roadway or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with WisDOT and/or IDOT projects, specifications, and documentation procedures is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in construction inspection, documentation, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with field tools and software such as AASHTOWare Project, Microsoft Excel, and CAD-based systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites in the region.
