Job summary

trilongroup is seeking a motivated Resident Engineer to manage construction projects in Monroe, Wisconsin. Are you a results-driven Resident Engineer looking for a new challenge? Fehr Graham is a fast-growing Midwest engineering and environmental firm looking for a motivated and experienced Resident Engineer.

What you’ll do
  • Serve as the primary on‑site representative for construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and oversee day‑to‑day field operations for roadways, bridges, utility installations, and other civil infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subconsultants, municipal clients, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
  • Perform and document field inspections, materials testing, and quality control procedures.
  • Monitor construction schedules and budgets; proactively identify and address potential delays or overruns.
  • Maintain accurate project records, field notes, daily reports, and change documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and project‑specific requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to field staff and engineering interns.
  • Support project managers with closeout documentation, punch lists, and final inspections.
What it takes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Licensed EIT preferred, Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction engineering, including roadway or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with WisDOT and/or IDOT projects, specifications, and documentation procedures is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in construction inspection, documentation, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with field tools and software such as AASHTOWare Project, Microsoft Excel, and CAD‑based systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and with cross‑functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites in the region.
