Job summary

Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer in Houston, Texas to supervise on-site quality control, coordinate inspection staff, maintain project records, and ensure contract requirements and design discrepancies are resolved.

This on-site role requires a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, 10+ years of construction management experience, and proven experience with hot mix asphalt pavement construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CM or Civil Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of construction management experience required.
  • Must be willing to work full-time on-site.
  • Experience with hot mix asphalt pavement construction preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct on-site personnel involved in quality control and technical direction.
  • Provide directions to and scheduling of inspection staff; ensure proper techniques are implemented.
  • Ensure project records are produced and maintained by field staff.
  • Communicate contract revisions and design discrepancies to field staff and ensure follow-through.
  • Review contractor operations to maintain schedule and identify critical activities.
  • Monitor complaints from residents, businesses, and authorities; resolve issues.
  • Hold Weekly Progress Meetings and issue minutes; conduct Pre-Installation Meetings.
  • Interact with owner to ensure satisfaction with the project.
  • Prepare outgoing correspondence and ensure compliance and correctness.
  • Participate in review boards to resolve nonconformance and implement corrections.
  • Perform internal quality control audits and inspections across disciplines.
  • Coordinate quality control program with job-site departments and contractors.
