Job summary

Hilltop Community Resources is seeking a part-time Activity Specialist to engage residents in diverse programs and ensure a safe, supportive environment.

The role involves facilitating activities, assisting with daily living tasks, and coordinating with the Resident Engagement Supervisor. A Colorado driver’s license is required, and CPR/First Aid or QMAP is preferred. 1–6:30 pm shifts on weekdays offer meaningful community work in Grand Junction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 21+ years old.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License required.
  • CPR/First Aid and QMAP certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities for residents on and off campus.
  • Transport residents using accessible vehicles, including up to 12-person buses.
  • Communicate residents' needs to ensure quality service and safety.
  • Complete required documentation promptly and maintain health and behavior records.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and medications as per care plans.
  • Maintain boundaries and dignity of residents and support staff and vendors.

An overview of this position entails...This position is responsible for assisting with resident engagement opportunities and activities for participants in Residential and Non-Residential program within Hilltop’s Brain Injury Services. This position assists the Resident Engagement Supervisor in organizing, promoting, and facilitating comprehensive activities and services that promote healthy, activity-enriched lifestyles for participants utilizing these seven dimensions of wellness: social, intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and vocational.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior that align with the values of Hilltop’s Life Adjustment Program, including Service 1, how we treat each other, and Service 2, how we treat our residents. Service 1 and Service 2 is demonstrated by setting boundaries, being predictable, consistent, kind, and transparent.
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities both on and off the Bacon Campus for residents by preparing for outings, loading and unloading residents for transportation to and from outings, and interacting with and supporting clients during activities, etc. Activities include, but are not limited to, swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, etc.
  • Drive residents to and from offsite activities using handicapped-accessible vehicles, up to and including 12-person buses.
  • Appropriately communicate the needs of both resident and staff to ensure good customer service for the overall well-being of residents and their natural supports, staff, and vendors.
  • Provide behavior management techniques in accordance with individual resident’s care plans and report concerns regarding health or behavior concerns/changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete required documentation promptly, accurately, and legibly. Certified medication administration staff will maintain records in accordance with specific procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist participants with activities of daily living to include toileting, walking, meal support, medications, and transferring based on the individual’s care plan while on and off campus, including overnight activities.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all residents enrolled in any Hilltop program or residing at any of Hilltop's facilities, all while maintaining the dignity, confidentiality, privacy and rights of every resident.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and report damaged equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in performing housekeeping duties as needed to maintain cleanliness of the Fitness Center and surrounding grounds including, but not limited to, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, trash removal, stocking supplies, disinfecting, cleaning bathrooms and kitchen areas, and cleaning and tidying all areas of the facility.
  • Support fellow staff with recreational/exercise activities including planning, facilitating, cueing, documenting, and other duties.
  • May be required to assist in other roles as census and staffing needs occur.

High school or General Education Degree (GED) plus year of related work experience or two years of work experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 21 years of age required.
