Job summary

St. Catherine's Village, Inc. is seeking an energetic Activity Assistant to support Independent Living residents by planning and facilitating activities that keep residents engaged, social, and active.

The role focuses on creating opportunities for participation in fitness, arts, music, games, and community events, while building connections and fostering a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere for residents and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the elderly in long-term care preferred.
• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent; have special talents/skills/training to work with the elderly in an activity setting.
• Cheerful, outgoing, good social interaction skills; able to work with interruptions and sometimes stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and supports the mission and philosophy of St. Catherine's Village, Inc.
• Assists with conducting resident activities and transportation.
• Assists and works cooperatively with volunteers assigned to the same work area.
• Follows Village and departmental policies and procedures.
• Effectively works as a member of the Marketing and Administration team through open communication with staff, volunteers and families.
• Exhibits an understanding of the aging adult and stays informed of innovative program concepts, incorporating these into the existing program and helping create new programs.
• Respects resident and family privacy by maintaining confidential restricted information gained in any way.
• Maintains high standards of professional appearance and conduct.
• Other duties as assigned.
