Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal service in our Residence/Home. You will help set up, prepare, serve, and clean up during meals, while maintaining dining room cleanliness and assisting with events. The role emphasizes resident-focused service and adherence to safety policies.

Applicants should have a Food Handler's Certificate and experience in food service, ideally with seniors. Bilingual abilities are a plus; Vulnerable Sector Check is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Experience in food service is preferred, especially with seniors.
• Must be enrolled in or complete a Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Second language proficiency is an asset.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests professionally.
• Assist in set up and prep for service (beverages, salads, desserts).
• Set and clear dining tables; deliver trays as needed.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen/dining area cleanliness.
• Support catering and participate in special events.
• Assist orientation and training of new dietary staff.
• Follow health and safety legislation and procedures.
• Comply with provincial regulations and department policies.
• Respect Resident Rights & Responsibilities.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
• Participate in Quality Improvement Program.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
