Job summary

Distinctive Living is seeking a full-time Cook at Mira Vie at Toms River, NJ. The role supports the Restaurant and Hospitality Department, ensuring high-quality meals, service, and adherence to special diets for residents.

Responsibilities include planning with the Director, following nutritional menus, maintaining safety standards, supervising dining room service, and training staff. A high school diploma and food service experience are required; more experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in food service required.
• Minimum of three years' experience in food service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality with planning, directing, controlling, communicating, and coaching in the Food Service Department.
• Follows the Menu Program that meets nutritional requirements and adheres to purchasing practices.
• Addresses resident likes and dislikes to maintain high satisfaction and ensures meals meet safety standards.
• Maintains food temperatures and time controls; uses equipment safely; stores and dates items properly.
• Ensures dining room service supports resident experiences and monitors satisfaction during meals.
• Participates in staff hiring and training within the dietary department; provides input on evaluations.
• Maintains a clean kitchen including equipment, surfaces, and storage areas.
• Ensures a safe work environment and compliance with safety standards.
• Demonstrates teamwork, initiative, and positive impact on residents and coworkers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
