Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a dedicated Van Driver to safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and events across Iowa. You’ll assist residents boarding and exiting the van, ensure wheelchair securement, and communicate with nursing staff.

The role requires a valid Class D license, clean driving record, CPR/first aid (or willingness to obtain), and flexible weekend availability. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions
• CPR and first aide certification or willingness to accomplish

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies)
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends
