Job summary

Chelsea Retirement Community is seeking a part-time Resident Care Assistant (RCA) for 1st shift in Chelsea, MI. The role includes providing daily care, companionship, and a welcoming environment for residents. Schedule is 16 hours per week, 6:30am–3pm, with weekend and holiday rotation.

Shift premiums apply after hours and weekends. Responsibilities cover ADLs, mealtime assistance, mobility support, vitals, and ensuring resident comfort.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in direct caregiving preferred but not required.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs safely.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on care (ADLs) for residents.
• Assist with mealtimes and hydration.
• Support mobility and safe transfers.
• Monitor vital signs and intake/output.
• Maintain clean, comfortable living spaces.
• Respond promptly to call lights with kindness.
• Report changes in residents’ conditions to leadership.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Hands-On Care – Assist with personal care (ADLS) like bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Support Mealtime– Help residents enjoy their meals and stay hydrated for good health.
• Keep Things Moving – Support mobility, including turning, positioning, and safe transfers.
• Perform Vital Checks – Measure and record vital signs, weight, and intake/output.
• Maintain Comfort & Care – Keep rooms tidy, cozy, and well-stocked with essentials.
• Provide Responsive Support – Answer call lights quickly and respond with kindness and compassion.
• Monitor with Watchful Eyes – Report any changes in conditions to the leadership ASAP.
• Demonstrate Respect & Professionalism – Maintain confidentiality while delivering top-notch care.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a direct caregiving role preferred but not required.
• Must be able to safely lift, push, pull, and carry up to a minimum of 35 lbs.
• Previous working knowledge of Electronic Medication Administration Records (EMAR) system preferred.
