Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide to provide quality daily living support to residents and assist with activities. The role requires patience, strong communication, ability to work with others, and a commitment to safety. Training and ongoing in-services are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completed approved Personal Care Aide program per state regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized and able to work with all levels of staff.
• Follow supervisor instructions and be a team player.
• Polite and respectful to residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Able to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
• Uniform and name badge required during shifts.
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become within 60 days of hire.
• Represent the community positively and professionally.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with activities of daily living.
• Performs housekeeping duties in resident rooms and common areas as directed.
• Responds promptly to all resident calls for assistance or alarms.
• Remains calm and competent during emergencies.
• Plans and conducts activity programs for residents.
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
• Assists residents to and from dining and activities.
• Checks on residents and reports status or concerns to the appropriate person.
• Communicates verbally and in writing regarding resident status and admissions.
• Assists new residents with move-in transition and emotional support.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
