Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. in Las Vegas, NM 87701 seeks a part-time Resident Assistant to foster a safe, inclusive residential community that supports student success.

As a student leader, you will mentor residents, plan educational and social programs, conduct rounds and safety checks, respond to emergencies, and connect residents with campus resources. Training, staff meetings, and departmental initiatives are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a student at New Mexico Highlands University.
  • Maintain good academic and conduct standing throughout employment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call duty rotation.
  • Successfully complete all required training before and during employment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

Description

The Resident Assistant (RA) id a student leader responsible forfostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential communitythat supports student success.Resident Assistants serve as peermentors and role models by building relationships with residents,promoting community development, enforcing university housingpolicies, responding to emergencies, and providing resources andreferrals when appropriate. RA's plan and implement educational andsocial programs, conduct regular community rounds, conducts monthlysafety and maintenance inspections, complete administrativedocumentations, assist with residence hall operations, andparticipate in training, staff meetings, and departmentalinitiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at New Mexico HighlandsUniversity.
  • Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements established byResidence Life and Housing.
  • Maintain good academic and student conduct standing throughoutemployment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills,
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise soundjudgment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate inan on-call duty rotation.
  • Successfully complete all required training before and duringemployment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous leadership experience in student organizations,residence life, or other campus involvement.
  • Previous customer service, mentoring, or peer leadershipexperience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of university resources and student supportservices.
  • Previous experience living in on-campus housing.
