Job summary

Shalom Gardens is seeking an Activity Assistant to design and lead engaging activities for residents in a warm, home-like setting. You will build relationships, encourage participation, and support well-being through creative programs and one-on-one interactions.

Join a supportive interdisciplinary team that values creativity, compassion, and resident-centered care. This full-time role focuses on meaningful daily activities and community engagement in a long-term care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Coursework in recreation or related field preferred.
• Completion of a state-approved activity training course preferred but not required.
• Experience with seniors or in long-term care is a plus.
• Experience leading activities or events is preferred.
• Friendly, outgoing, patient and compassionate personality.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and leading engaging recreational and social activities.
• Facilitate games, arts and crafts, music, celebrations and group activities.
• Encourage residents to participate based on interests and abilities.
• Assist with special events, holidays, themed activities, and community outings.
• Provide one-on-one activities and companionship for residents.
• Help create a welcoming, positive and energetic environment.
• Build relationships and learn residents' interests and preferences.
• Work with the Activities Director and team to support residents' well-being.
• Prepare activity spaces, supplies, and decorations.
• Support resident independence, dignity, and quality of life.
